Media Xperiments

The MCC currently serves nearly 1000 youth ages 13 – 20 in Central Texas through the social learning portal and supplemental enrichment program Media Xperiments. We provide stipends and consultants that help teachers boost student engagement by leveraging media and technology tools in the classroom.  Students are exposed to It Could Be U Camps, tours, job shadowing, mentoring, on-line activities, portfolio development and employment opportunities.

It Could Be U

It Could Be U: Intensive Mentoring & College Readiness Program is a partnership between the Media Communications Council, the Texas Diversity Council (TXDC) and the University of Texas Division of Diversity and Community Engagement to provide intensive academic mentoring and college readiness services for youth ages 13 – 20.
The year long program allows students to explore fields of interest and then, working with their parents, UT graduate students and professional members of the TXDC within those fields, develop an educational plan and portfolio.
The program combines years of proven strategies developed through the MCC’s youth outreach program Media Xperiments and the University of Texas Intellectual Entrepreneurship program to provide an innovative and cost effective path to increasing student engagement and achievement.
